As Christmas is fast approching and the pressure of celebrating Christmas is mounting, I want to take a moment to assure you that you are not alone in feeling the way you are.
One thing us angel dads understand is the pressure from society into just “manning up” and getting on with it. The very fact men suffer at a higher rate of depression is only hightend when you throw child loss into the picture.
One thing we are good at and im guilty of this is putting all my feelings as deep down as possible and just getting on with it and faking a smile , sure it may work for a while but its a very quick fix and things will , as they have done with me unravel very quickly.
One thing i have learnt and learnt it the hard way is that its ok to greive as I want to , its ok to not want to celebrate the way you used to and no one has a right to tell you that you should be over it now.
As a rainbow dad , a man who now has mental health issue i will join many others in waking up on christmas day and faking a smile and wanting the world to swallow me up.
Be gentle with yourself and do things on your terms.
